When the frequencies fill up on March 28th from 17:00z to 22:00z, one airport will be at the center of attention: Munich. During the Munich HUB Event, EDDM will be fully staffed for five hours and connected with several European airports to create a busy network of routes. Our Franz Josef Strauß Airport (EDDM) will serve as the central hub, where all connections come together. The idea is simple: One pilot might bring passengers from Hamburg to Munich, another takes them from Munich onwards to Vienna, while someone else brings new guests from Prague into Munich. Over the course of the evening, this creates a continuous traffic flow through our hub. For pilots this means plenty of well-staffed routes around Munich and the perfect opportunity for turnarounds or small rotations between our hub partners. Our HUB partners and their planned staffing times: * LOWW Vienna: 17z – 21z * EDDH Hamburg: 17z – 21z * LIPZ Venice: 17z – 20z * LKPR Prague: 18z – 21z * EBBR Brussels: 19z – 22z Whether you plan a single flight or several rotations – take advantage of the connections between the hubs and bring some traffic to Munich. We look forward to seeing you at the Munich HUB Event! 🍻

VFR-Night in the Bremen FIR The VFR-Night is all about visual flying. Every sixth Friday from 19:30 to 22:00 local time, controllers open selected airports within the Bremen FIR, bringing real VFR feeling to the VATSIM network. To mark the start of daylight saving time, this VFR Night takes you to the East Frisian Islands. The region combines a vast North Sea coastline, beautiful islands and endless inland landscapes – making it the ideal terrain for diverse VFR flights. Recommended airfields include Juist (EDWJ), Langeoog (EDWL), Norderney (EDWY), Wangerooge (EDWG), Emden (EDWE), and Borkum (EDWR). Whether you glide along the wide beaches of East Frisia, explore the Wadden Sea, or approach islands like Norderney and Borkum – you’ll get a true North Sea and East Frisian atmosphere in the cockpit. With each event, the location changes: sometimes it’s the coast with its islands, other times it’ll be the inland with lakes, rivers, and wide open landscapes. This keeps every VFR-Night varied, exciting, and unmistakably North German. Whether it’s short hops between fields, pattern work at the runways, sightseeing along the coastline or relaxed tours over Mecklenburg-Vorpommern – the VFR-Night is the perfect opportunity to discover the northeast of Germany in a casual and friendly atmosphere. It’s also a great chance for both pilots and controllers to sharpen their VFR skills within the framework of mentoring programs. So climb into your aircraft, enjoy northern Germany from above, take advantage of the hands-on learning opportunities VFR-Night provides and soak up the laid-back, coastal atmosphere that makes this event so unique.

A much younger tradition than our national pastime, our classic Iowa event is back for its third year! With that same faith, the controllers of ZAU and ZMP will staff up fields across Iowa, and we hope to summon pilots to come fly in!

Date: April 7, 2026 Time: 2300-0300Z Time: 5-9PM Mountain Time As the sun sets on this iconic strip of pavement, we invite all pilots to help us give it a proper send-off before the heavy machinery moves in for demolition on April 8th.Runway 14-32 isn’t just a secondary strip; it’s a living relic. As a remaining section of the original World War II-era runway built at Salt Lake City Airport, it has served as a bridge between aviation’s past and its future for over 80 years. However, time and modern safety standards have caught up. With its unique orientation creating two persistent hotspots and its utility decreasing in the age of massive commercial flows, the decision has been made to decommission it to make way for the airport’s continued expansion. Come fly the bravo, practice your short landings, or make your final full-stop on this historic piece of Salt Lake history. To ensure everyone gets a chance to experience the pavement one last time, we are using the runway to a during this event so if you want to log Runway 14-32 in your logbook, here is what you need to know: Permitted Aircraft: VFR Traffic: All types are welcome. For IFR Traffic: Prop/Turboprops along with Light Jets (Non-RNAV). Due to the proximity of the main air carrier runways (16L/R and 34L/R), please stay sharp on your taxi instructions and watch for those notorious hotspots. Let’s keep the frequency professional but the atmosphere celebratory. Don't miss out—once the clock strikes midnight on April 8th, 14-32 becomes a memory.

Experience one of the most iconic and technically demanding arrivals in South America during The C Approach, a special event centered around operations into El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá. Due to the surrounding terrain and operational procedures, arrivals into Runways 32 often follow a characteristic curved arrival pattern that resembles the shape of the letter “C.” This unique maneuver allows aircraft to properly position for final approach while maintaining safe terrain clearance and sequencing with other traffic. The “C” in the event name directly references this distinctive maneuver, highlighting the challenge and realism pilots will experience as they navigate Bogotá’s complex arrival environment. During the event, pilots can expect busy skies, full ATC coverage, and a highly immersive operational environment as aircraft sequence into Bogotá during peak evening traffic. Precision flying, proper speed management, and careful navigation will be key to executing a smooth arrival.
